Imagining the future of museums by András Szántó
Imagining the Future of Museums with András Szántó. Lecture held on 29 January 2026.
As part of its expansion, the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya sought to become a space for collective reflection and debate. To this end, the museum invited New York-based cultural advisor and author András Szántó, who has studied innovative cultural and museum practices and strategies around the world.
In this lecture, Szántó explores the systemic changes taking place in the museum sector and how institutions are adapting to them, not only through their collections and programmes, but also through architecture and design. He describes a sector undergoing profound transformation, reshaping museums to become more people- and community-centred, more digital and connected, and more engaged with diverse cultural practices.
